When something goes wrong with a pregnancy, the March of Dimes is there for the parents. Unfortunately, our Field Technician, Chris and his wife, Allie had a personal encounter with a terrible experience during which her life was threatened and their baby didn't survive. The baby was named Dwayne, and he would now be 3 ½ years old. A  friend who is a volunteer with the Austin fire service community has been receiving many calls about how to help the volunteer fire and EMS guys in West.  There is a foundation, called WPI Firefighters' Fund, which provides support and assistance to the families or survivors of injured or fallen firefighters. It also assists volunteer fire departments with equipment and other items needed to operate and protect their communities. The 6th Annual "Words of Hope" Speaker Series will be hosted by Caritas of Austin on May 1st at 11:30am at the Hilton Austin. Caritas of Austin is a non-profit organization that serves those of Travis county who are experiencing poverty or homelessness, by providing a safety net and services to achieve self-sufficiency. Sun City Texas has been asked by their peers to host the 2013 Community Managers International Association's (CMIA) annual workshop on April 7-10. Community managers from around the U.S. will be in Austin for the event.
